How To Calculate Mortar In Brick Masonry

How to find out Mortar Quantity in Brick Masonry? Read this article and get full Answer.

Firstly, calculate your total volume of brick masonry. (Length×Height×Thickness ) Cubic

Standard Brick Size is (242 × 114 × 70) mm

Assuming
Total brick masonry is 100 cubic meter
Brick Size With Mortar (254 × 127 × 76) mm

Calculate The Number of Bricks

∴ Numbers of Brick = {100 ÷ (0.254 × 0.127 × 0.076)} Nos
=40789.55 Nos
≈40790 Nos

Brick Size With Out Mortar (.242 × .114 × .07) meter

∴ Total wet condition mortar = {100 – (0.242 × 0.114 × 0.07)} cubic meter
=100 – 78.77 m^3
=21.23 m^3

Consider the percentage of waste as 10 %
∴ Wet mortar = (21.23 × 1.1) = 23.35 m^3

We know, dry volume multiply to 1.5 of wet volume

∴ Dry Volume = (23.35 ×  1.5) = 35.025 ≈ 35 m^3

Percentage Of Mortar in Brick Masonry

100 m^3 brick masonrys need 35 m^3 mortar
∴ 35% mortar need for brick masonry in (242 × 114 × 70)mm brick size.
